UKRAINIAN POULTRY: THREATS AND PROSPECTS

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to consider the current state of the poultry industry in Ukraine,
identifying threats and further prospects for development.
The scientific novelty. Considered the state's place in the world market of poultry products,
as one of the largest exporters. The dynamics of the poultry population and structure in Ukraine over
the past five years were studied and it was determined how the events of 2022 affected the production
of poultry products. It has been established that the sustainable development of the poultry industry
in Ukraine requires constant monitoring of factors that shape the competitiveness of products with a
plan to ensure food security. The need to adapt the industry to favorable trends and market conditions,
as well as the importance of current analysis aimed at ensuring the stable and effective development
of poultry farming in Ukraine, is determined. Based on the evaluation of the factors influencing the
enterprise, such weak points of the enterprise were identified as: a narrow range of products; high
prices for compound feed; narrow specialization; ecological aspects; workforce. Among the threats
to the industry are: unfavorable economic and political situation in the country; decrease in the price
of products; increased competition; rising inflation rates.
Conclusions. In order to improve the development of the production of poultry products in
Ukraine, promising directions for the sustainable development of the industry were highlighted.
Namely: balancing production and supply of products in accordance with demand; the transition of
industry enterprises to an innovation-oriented development model; support for the development of the
internal distribution network of industry enterprises to ensure coverage of new markets; overcoming
environmental problems and implementing environmentally friendly practices in production;
settlement of issues with the provision of feed of own production; use of high quality products;
improvement of management processes and optimization of costs to reduce vulnerability to changes
in legislation and economic factors; development of strategies to reduce the impact of competition
and external threats by strengthening the company's weaknesses
